May 29, 2011  Crisfield, Somers Cove Marina, Day 3 It had cooled off enough last night that we were able to sleep with the hatches open and not use the AC.  We haven't been able to do that for a long time.  This morning the breeze picked up again, but it was still warm in the high 80's.  I did a couple more loads of wash (left over from Friday), while Bob walked Auggie.  When I got back, we did some trip planning for next week.  Because there is such a great distance (71 miles) between Crisfie...

June 25, 2009 - No Name Harbor to Islamorada We got up today about 7:00, did our morning things, and pulled up the anchor at 8:30. We wanted to beat the storms that were predicted for later today. We left the anchorage and headed out into Hawk Channel.   It runs between the outer edge of the reef and the inner line of the islands. It is a well-protected passage and has a controlling depth of 9 feet, taking you through Biscayne Bay. We first encountered the remaining 7 houses of Stiltsville, ...

June 18, 2009 – Marsh Harbor to Treasure Cay Another sweltering day began at 7 AM. We got things ready to leave today and head for Treasure Cay. There is a big Billfishing tournament (black marlin, white marlin, sailfish) going on there this week. We talked to Bernie and Barb yesterday and found out they were in Baker’s Bay. Early this morning, via email, we read that they had moved from Baker’s Bay to Treasure Cay yesterday, so I guess we’ll run into them over there. We got some outboard gas ...

June 11, 2009 - Man-O-War Cay to Marsh Harbor We woke up at 7:00 and started the day. Bob had some boat maintenance to do and I did some boat chores, too. We had to wait for the fuel barge to leave before we could pull out.   We made a few calls with our new Skype plan and enjoyed talking with people back home via the computer. We paid our bill at the marina and pulled away from the dock at 10:15. We didn’t meet any other boats going through the narrow entrance channel this time and took a sl...

June 4, 2009 – Allans-Pensacola Cay to Manjack Cay We woke up around 7:00, had breakfast, and prepared to leave. We hauled anchor at 8:45 and were on our way to Spanish Cay to do Customs. We left Sitting Duck at the anchorage, but they would pull out shortly and meet us at Manjack Cay (pronounced Munjack).   The skies were blue and the breeze created a moderate chop on the seas. We passed “Center of the World Rock” out in the middle of nowhere, hence the name. It’s only 10 miles to Spanish C...
