We ended up sleeping a little longer than we had wanted to, but we were up and at it right away....emptying the pantry, cabinets, drawers, packing up, and cleaning.  (I like to clean the trailer before putting it away, so it's ready for next time.)  We did everything, hooked up, and were on the road at 9:45. (Yesterday, we had called to cancel our camping reservation at Silver Springs State Park just east of Ocala.  We were told that we would receive a full refund because the park was closed and...

This morning, we woke up and checked the Weather Channel for an update on Hurricane Matthew.  They are calling for 40 mph winds in Ocala Thursday afternoon.  Bob doesn't want to pull the trailer in high winds, so we'll cut our trip short by 2 days and head home Thursday morning.  We have a plan!  After a few phone calls, we got ready to do some hiking.  We took the short walk to the head of the Suwannee River Trail starting from the boat launch.  The trail runs along the river and the views we...

We were up and on the move around 9:30.  We had about 2 1/2 hours of driving today on the Interstate.  We've had fabulous weather the last 2 weeks and today is no exception--sunny skies and a light breeze.  We have been getting some torrential rain back home according to our neighbors, but nary a drop by us.  Upon leaving the park and driving a few miles, we crossed over the Appalachicola River and back into the Eastern Time Zone losing an hour.  Traffic was light for the most part, except thro...

We set the alarm so we could get up to go make reservations for a cave tour at the Visitor's Center when it opens at 8:45. There's no way to know how busy the tours are and they sell out quickly.  There is a limit of 25 people per tour and today was our last chance for a tour.  There are no tours on Tuesday or Wednesday.  We arranged our tour for 10:30 which gave us enough time to walk Auggie and have breakfast.  Well, let me just say that the 45 minute tour was well worth all the effort we put...

We were in no hurry to leave this morning with 154 miles to go and most of it was Interstate.  We left the dazzling white sand beaches and blue Gulf waters to travel through rolling hills of forests and grasslands.  What a difference a few miles can make!  Our destination was Marianna, FL east of Tallahassee, where we'll spend 2 nights at Florida Caverns State Park.  Florida Caverns State Park is one of the few state parks with dry air-filled caves and the only state park in Florida to offer cav...

It's hard to believe it already October.  Where did the time go?  We made a few phone calls this morning and made plans to drive downtown to Pensacola's  Historic District.  We didn't realize that this was the weekend for Pensacola's Seafood Festival down in the same area of town.  Oh well... more to see and do. As we neared downtown, there were people walking everywhere.  We decided to head down to the Palafox Pier at the Port of Pensacola first. This is where we stayed in our boat when we br...
