August 14, 2011 Vero Beach Marina to Stuart (Sunset Bay Marina) Alarm goes off at 6:00. We're up, getting things ready to go. Leave the dock at 7:00. Today started off cooler than yesterday around 74 degrees. There was a nice breeze and it was sunny. The storms from yesterday moved on and it would be a nice day. They put on quite a lightning show last night. The ride of 44.5 miles today was pretty uneventful. The boat traffic increased as the morning wore on, so we were anxious to get off the ...

August 7, 2011 Isle of Hope Marina, GA (day 2) We finally slept in, if 7:30 is sleeping late. Bob made our usual Sunday breakfast and watched his morning TV shows. I worked on my blog and really gave the boat a thorough cleaning inside. The outside will have to wait until it gets cooler. We feel confident that Tropical Storm Emily is gone for good, so we made a decision to move on tomorrow. We made our 'family phone calls' this morning and made plans to borrow the courtesy car to go to the mov...

July 31, 2011 Georgetown, NC (Hazzard Marina) Day 2 I looked forward to this day so much. It was a day to sleep in and Bob was going to make our usual Sunday breakfast...eggs. We could take some time for ourselves this morning. Bob was able to watch his Sunday morning political shows and I could catch up on emails. Around 10:00, we decided to take a short walk into town. The live oaks draped with Spanish moss lined the streets, so it was shady and cooler for our walk down Front St.   Since it...

July 24, 2011 Happy 29th Anniversary to us!!! Time sure flies when you're having fun! We set the alarm so we could get up in time to take a cab 2 miles to downtown Beaufort for a 3 hour Outer Banks Cape Lookout Lighthouse Tour. We ate breakfast, walked Auggie, and called a cab. He picked us up at 8:20 for our 9:00 tour. We arrived in Beaufort, just across the river, and checked in at the office for the tour.   At 9:00, Capt. Dave loaded all 5 of us into the 25' boat and started out towards t...

July 17, 2011 Norfolk/Portsmouth, VA to Coinjock, NC We set the alarm to get up in time to leave at 8:00, but we both woke up before the alarm went off. We pulled away from the dock a little early at 7:45 to make sure we would make the bridge opening at 8:30. Going under our first RR bridge, we came face-to-face with a ship going the other way. He wins! We waited until he came through.   From there, we motored the 5 miles to make our first bridge opening, but.....foiled again! The RR bridge i...

We wasted away the afternoon listening to music and playing Cribbage. Bob came away from 3 matches as the champion. (I think he cheats.) We made some phone calls to family and waited for things to cool off before going to shore with Auggie. After supper, we took Auggie for a dinghy ride to shore and walked in the state park. He enjoyed the time to run and sniff. We came back to the boat to do the dishes and turn on the AC awhile before bed. The sun was going down and there were a few other boats...
