August 9, 2015 Today is our last day of vacation.  We woke up and began to pack up and clean out.  That gave us less to do once we got home.  All we had to do was off-load the bags, etc. from the trailer and in his heat and humidity that helped.  The trailer was clean and ready to go on our next adventure.  We pulled out of the campground at 10:15 for our 4 hour drive and arrived home at 2:00.  Our exit at the Ellenton Outlet Mall had the ramp backed up onto the freeway--an accident waiting to ...

August 8, 2015 Bob's been letting me sleep-in the last couple of mornings even though he got up earlier and I appreciate that.  We only had about 215 miles to go today, so we weren't in any big rush, but the campground we were in last night had 'sugar ants' they said and the ants were getting into everything.  After a quick repair, we were out of there!  We pulled out at 9:00 and the temp. had already risen to 88 degrees.  It was going to be a hot one and after the rain we had yesterday, it was...

August 7, 2015 We were up and ready to go in no time since we were already hooked up.  We pulled out by 8:30 and were on the road under cloudy skies.  It wasn't long before we reached the Tenn-Tom Waterway.   It was a few years back that we had traveled down this waterway in our 46' Ocean Sportfish as we brought it down to Florida.    In Alabama, we traveled on roads that took us over rolling hills with light traffic.    As we neared Birmingham, traffic was crazy busy and we could see the ...

August 6, 2015 There was a thunderstorm that came through around midnight last night.  It rained awhile, but not for long.  I was finally getting a good night's rest when the storm blew in and woke me up.  Luckily, I could get right back to sleep.  In the morning, we woke up around 7:00 and started our preparations for leaving today.  It was a warm, cloudy morning, but no more rain was expected.  The forecast was calling for temperatures in the 100's this weekend, so it was time to go.  We were...

August 5, 2015 It was going to be another hot day, so we decided it would be wise to get an early start to beat the heat.  We wanted to explore historic downtown Hot Springs.   We left the campground at 9:15, drove downtown, and parked the truck but 9:30.  We passed the old Army/Navy Hospital that was later converted to the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, using the hot water for treatments.    On the property, were 3 large openings emitting steam from the hot springs.   We began our walk...

August 4, 2015 We got up early as Bob had to prepare for the BOD meeting for the Co-op via Skype at 8:30 our time. He walked Auggie before the meeting and saw these two kids hanging in their hammocks wrapped up like cocoons.  I guess that's where they slept last night.   I hung out while Bob participated in the meeting until 11:30.  It was a sunny, very warm day with a predicted high of 99 degrees.  We decided that we would go into Hot Springs National Park and drive the Hot Springs Scenic Mou...
