We woke up with the sun and began our work on the trailer.  We like to clean the entire trailer for storage, so when we get home all we have to do is unload.  We did all that and were ready to leave at 10:00.  Traffic on I-75 was light and we had sunny skies and 83 degrees.  Bob was able to put on another lug nut, so we were more confident about the tire.  We did stop twice at 2 Rest Areas to check on the tires and all was good.  While on the road, we made 2 calls--one to the shop to get the tir...

We left around 9:00 on I-75, leaving from our campground which was south of Atlanta.  We have 260 miles to go today and traffic was heavy.  There were still lots of utility trucks traveling north. In our campground last night, there were quite a few campers from Florida and Georgia who were there after evacuating from places along the East Coast.  I talked to two ladies who were from Port Orange and Titusville.  They were headed back home today.  It was already 85 degrees when we left and going...

We both got up before the alarm at 7 AM.  What's up with that?  I guess we were anxious to get going.  We had our breakfast, prepped the trailer for departure, and were on the road at 8:00.  It was partly sunny and muggy with a temp of 77.  We could see some outer bands of clouds moving in from Hurricane Dorian and we were hoping to miss the rain today.  We traveled southwest on I-95 to Augusta, GA.  From there, we hopped on I-20 towards Atlanta.  It takes us a little out the way, but at least w...

We set the alarm for 7 AM to get an early start, but got up before that.  A few more campers left early this morning.  It was a bright, sunny day, but muggy and a temp already at 83 degrees.  We were on the road by 8:30. We were taking Highway 64 away from the coast.  Our first bridge took us over the Croatian Sound from Roanoke Island to the mainland where there was no traffic.  It was eerily empty. After 13 miles, we crossed the Alligator River and the Alligator-Pungo Canal which is part of t...

We've been enjoying our leisurely stay here over the last 5 days.  I guess we're getting ready for our 4 days of drive, drive, drive to get home and avoid Dorian on the way.  Not the best way to end a fabulous  2 month trip, but if we get home safely that's all that matters.  It look like a lot of the campers are heading out today after the Labor Day weekend.  Many are from Virginia and maybe want to get home before Darian comes visiting.  The skies were cloudy and we had a light rain this morni...

Well, the hurricane forecast is now part of our daily lives, but keeps on improving for back home in Palmetto, FL.  Before we left on this trip, we set up the house and 2 boats for hurricane season  so there was really not much to worry about.  We're more concerned about avoiding Dorian's wind and rain as we drive south through NC, SC, and GA on our way home.  It's a cat and mouse game!  We had a lazy morning watching the Sunday news shows and checking emails and phone messages.  Bob cooked his ...
