2017-10-27 Tupelo, MS to Troy, AL

It was a mostly cloudy day to start. We haven't had a cloudy day in....forever! We pulled out of the campground at 9:30. We spotted this guy with a sense of humor reminding us that Halloween is just around the corner.

The office at the campground was decorated so nicely for fall with gourds and scarecrows.

We crossed the Tombigbee Waterway that we traveled on by boat in 2008 when we brought our boat down from Wisconsin to Florida.

More trees were changing into their fall foliage. I am so glad we got to see the fall colors on our way home. We crossed over into Alabama about 10:30.

Traffic lightened up, but the rolling hills took a toll on our gas mileage.

We saw the high-rise buildings of Birmingham as we maneuvered our way through town.

As we traveled south on I-22, Montgomery was busy at noon, but from there we'd be on a principal divided highway to our campground tonight.

We arrived at Deer Run RV Park for the night at 2:10.

We took site #3 near the lake.

We would again stay hooked up for the night. It was a drive of 270 miles today with one last long drive tomorrow. The clouds cleared while we were in Alabama and we had sunny skies for most of our drive. After we got set up, Auggie and I took a walk around the lake. This is squirrel heaven and he was lovin' it.

We got back to the camper and I sat outside for awhile until the clouds rolled in. Tonight the cold front bringing rain may finally catch up with us. Bob checked the propane tanks to make sure we had enough to run the fireplace and furnace when the temperatures drop. The campground was busy with people who were in the area for homecoming of the Troy University Trojans. We made a reservation at this campground 2 months ago,but they couldn't find it. Luckily, they had one site left and we got. it. We relaxed before dinner and enjoyed some TV. Tomorrow we'll be in Florida for our last two nights of camping on this trip. I'm not ready to go home yet!
