We woke up to partly cloudy skies and cooler temps of 69 degrees.  We did our usual morning routine and left the campground at 8:15.  We crossed over into FL around 9 AM and from there we had sunny blue skies and the temperatures started climbing.   We made a list of hurricane preparations that we needed to do once we got home.  Good thing we put on our hurricane shutters before we left.  One less thing to do.  We made good time and arrived at home at 2:15.  It feels good to be home.    During...

We were up early and pulling out around 8:15.  We stopped for gas just down the road and were on the move again.  We had heavy rain last night and everything was soaked, but the sun was out this morning  and hopefully, the forecasted rain today will hold off until this afternoon.  Hurricane Isaac looks like he wants to visit Florida really bad and the storm tracks take it over Tampa and into the Gulf of Mexico.  About 15 miles down the road, we finally came to a place called 'South of the Border...

It rained a little overnight, but by morning the sun was out.  We woke up this morning with camping reservations to stay on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, but our plans were stopped dead in their tracks.  Bob checked the National Hurricane Center website and it looks like Hurricane Isaac might be knocking on Florida's door by the weekend.  Our last week of vacation was set to be in places on the Atlantic Coast--not a place you want to be if the hurricane decides to head up the coastline inst...

We enjoyed a leisurely morning and then hooked up the trailer to take it to Firestone.  We pulled out of the campground  11:00 and drove the 2 miles to the Firestone Store.  We unhooked the trailer in the parking lot and left it there.  The tires were being delivered by overnight carrier and would hopefully arrive sometime between 10 and 2.  In the meantime we would have to entertain ourselves while we waited.  Our first order of business was to catch a quick lunch and head out Shore Dr. away fr...

It rained most of yesterday, all night long, and most of this morning.  Rainy day=laundry day.  Bob did some research on new trailer tires and got that all set up to get them replaced tomorrow.  That took him all of the morning.  I did the laundry in the nicest laundry facility that I've seen in any campground that we've been to.  Auggie got his morning walk in during a time when it wasn't pouring down rain.  Bob cooked us our usual Sunday egg breakfast this morning because we were traveling yes...

We left a 8:30 to get a headstart on the Sunday traffic.  We left the trailer hooked up to the truck which save us time.  As we left the mountain area, we passed under the Appalachian Trail.  This sign marked the path.     Our route today took us around Washington, DC and south to Norfolk, VA.  Traffic wasn't too bad this early, so that was good.     We crossed over the Potomac River and made our way on the beltline around Washington.  We came upon a traffic slowdown at Fredericksburg as we cr...
