Tuesday, August 5, 2014     Wow!  We overslept past our usual rising time around 7 AM.  We woke up around 7:45.  I guess we were out of sinc since we changed to Eastern Time.  We hurried along with our chores and left the campground by 9:00.  It had rained last night around dinnertime and some things were still a little messy, but nontheless, we got on the road only 1/2 hour later than usual.  It was sunny, warm, and humid--typical of Florida at this time of year.  Our ride was uneventful with a...

Monday, August 4, 2014    We got up and going at 8:30.  It was sunny and a steamy 83 degrees.  The ride was uneventful.  We traveled most of the day on principal divided highways, so unless we were near a larger city, traffic was fairly light.   We had dark clouds and a few sprinkles as we neared the Florida border.  After crossing into Florida, we got a good shower to wash off the truck.   Auggie always makes himself comfortable in the back seat.  Nothing seems to phase him.   We arrived at ...

Sunday, August 3, 2014     We woke up and were feeling the effects of driving, driving, and more driving!  It was nice to have a little diversion yesterday at Graceland.  When we were at the campground yesterday we were told about a BBQ restaurant in town that picks you up at the campground in a pink Cadillac (like Elvis used to own) and brings you to the restaurant.  We saw it doing that last night.  Even the driver wore a pink shirt.   On our way out of town this morning, we passed the actual...

Saturday, August 2, 2014    It's hard to believe it's August already.  Where did all the summer go?  We wanted to get an early start and headed out at 8:15 this morning.  It was a sunny day with temps in the upper 80's.  We had 316 miles to go today to get to Memphis.  Once we left Oklahoma, we had all of Arkansas to cross.  We crossed over the Arkansas border around 8:45.   The terrain became more hilly as we neared the Ozark Mountain area.   Arkansas was heavily wooded through most of the st...

Friday, August 1, 2014     We left the campground at 8:15 and immediately got on the toll road to Oklahoma.  There was no way around it.  Once we crossed the border, it changed to Interstate again.  No reason, just because.  After the tollbooth, we spotted 'the scarecrow' who was waiting for Dorothy to go to Oz.  He was standing in a field of sunflowers.    We crossed into Oklahoma around 9:15 and the terrain changed.  It became hilly and there were lots of trees...not at all what we expected....

Thursday, July 31, 2014     We are a little 'off' today with the change in time zones.  We are now in the Central Time Zone and left the campground at 9:00.  It was a beautiful, sunny day.  Kansas is very flat with acres and acres of farm fields.  There were also many oil rigs.  Some were actually drilling for oil.   With all the open spaces here, this is a good place for those wind generators.   The blade we saw yesterday on the semi truck, was on its way where they are building more wind gen...
